Spring Films is a twice Oscar nominated, Emmy, BAFTA, Peabody, Grierson and RTS award winning factual production company based in London. We specialise in high-end access driven documentary and non-scripted content for clients such as Netflix, Channel 4, A&E, BBC, HBO, ITV, Nat Geo, Sky and many more. We are represented by ICM Partners in the US.

Chris Smith

Chief Executive Officer

Chris has a huge breadth of experience across the television and media industry. He spent many years at Liberty Global in a number of roles investing in and developing cable tv, broadband and content businesses around the world. He has advised lots of small companies on strategy and development, including several in the production space.

Sir Tom Shebbeare

Non-Executive Chairman

Tom was formerly a member of the Council of Europe's Secretariat, CEO of The Prince's Trust and Director of The Prince's Charities. He is now Chairman of Spring Films, Virgin's two not-for-profit companies, The Royal Parks Foundation and a Fellow of Green Templeton College, Oxford.

André Singer

Chief Creative Officer

André was Editor of the illustrious Disappearing World strand and founded BBC Fine Cut (now Storyville). He has made hundreds of hours of factual programmes including 15 films with Werner Herzog. André directed the Emmy winning “Night Will Fall” and co-directed “Meeting Gorbachev” alongside Herzog. He is also a Professorial Research Associate at London University, SOAS.

Lynette Singer

Director & Executive Producer

The founder of Spring Films, Lynette is a producer, executive producer, director, writer and script doctor for factual programmes ranging from history, travel and arts to science and wildlife. She was a writer for the multi-award winning Night Will Fall and feature documentary, Where the Wind Blew.

Pat Footer

Head of Production

Pat has many years’ experience across all TV genres including Drama, Light Entertainment, Outside Broadcast, Current Affairs and Documentary. She has been Head of Production on many award winning documentaries, including Stephen Fry in America, Werner Herzog’s Into the Inferno and Night Will Fall.

Figs Jackman

Head of Global Development

Alongside his role as Head of Global Development, Figs co-produced the Emmy Nominated 'City 40', the award-winning 'They Will Have to Kill Us First' and the feature doc 'A Mother Brings Her Son to Be Shot'. Prior to joining Spring Films, Figs produced and directed documentaries with Sir David Frost and the Hoff.

Kathy Myers

Creative Director

Kathy is an award winning Executive Producer who has worked for BBC, C4 and ITV across factual entertainment, specialist factual and drama. She’s developed over 50 programmes through to commission, including the BAFTA winning Coast (BBC2), The One Show (BBC1), Ice Town (BBC Worldwide), Father Brown (BBC1) and Prisons (Channel 4).

Edward Dallal

Senior Producer

Ed graduated in Political Sciences at Cambridge University. He co-founded the 3Film Group and remains a non-executive board member. He works in Development for Spring and has made films including The Quest For The Holy Foreskin, Remember Baghdad and Bollywood and Beyond with Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Lauren Greenwood

Producer

Lauren works across Development and Production at Spring on projects such as Prison, CoolDaddio, and The Two Lives of Li Ermao. She holds MA, MSc and PhD degrees in anthropology from Sussex University. Prior to Spring, she lectured in visual anthropology and international security, and consulted for global think tanks, the UN and EU, on gender and humanitarian-military coordination.

Claire Kessie

Office Manager & PR

Claire graduated from the University of Sussex and studied at SOAS. She previously worked for, The Prince of Wales and The Prince's Charities. Claire has worked as a Production Assistant on the award-winning Night Will Fall, Into the Inferno and Meeting Gorbachev. Claire is responsible for keeping the Spring Films office running smoothly and helping to promote our work.

Richard Melman

Executive Producer

A former Cameraman, Director, Producer and Channel Controller, Richard has launched 14 TV Channels (all but one still on air!), won a few awards and is passionate about all forms of factual programming, from short to long form and online to theatrical features.

Matthias Stausberg

Non-Executive Director

Matthias is Group Advocacy Director at Virgin, advising Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group, he leads public advocacy and government relations on a broad portfolio of global issues. Previously, Matthias was Spokesperson and Head of Public Affairs at the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. Both a Fulbright scholar and a German National Merit scholar, he holds a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of North Carolina’s School of Journalism.

Richard Creasey

Non-Executive Director

For 14 years Richard ran the Factual Programme Department at Central TV, responsible for features and documentaries. He co-founded Television Trust for the Environment and, alongside Douglas Adams and Robbie Stamp, he was a founder of The Digital Village. Richard is now Managing Director of BFC Media.

John Paul Davidson

Non-Executive Director

John is one of the most successful documentary and film directors in the UK. He made more than 40 award-winning documentaries before leaving the BBC to direct The Grotesque starring Alan Bates and Sting. He has also made acclaimed films and series with Sting, Michael Palin, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.
